Sanctuary

Hope is a safe place where people can come and learn that they are the beloved of God and grow into their true selves in Christ. We value intimate and honest relationships (connection) with God and one another, celebrating the holy presence of God amongst us as we worship Him and gather together as the Body of Christ. We honor the sacredness of our life stories as God's people and value our cultures as we grow in wholeness together.

Story

We earnestly seek to understand the fullness of God's redemptive story, as revealed in scripture, and to discover our identity as His people. We recognize the importance of naming and understanding our personal life stories within the context of God's overarching story. We encourage one another to discover how our life stories have been shaped by our family of origin, culture, gender, and socio-economic experiences and to share them with one another in authentic, confessing community.  Authentically sharing our stories and brokenness positions us for healing and maturity (shalom) and nurtures compassion and unity within our Body.

Surrender

We surrender our lives to God's love and His will as revealed in His word, seeking to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to live out our divine identity and purpose as His beloved people. We understand that surrendering to God positions us for transformation in Christ through the Holy Spirit. We surrender our need to establish our identity through the values of this world and seek to empower all people to live into their true identities and God-given purpose here at Hope. We surrender our cultural sensibilities and preferences so that we may fully hear one another's authentic stories.

ShaloM

We understand shalom to be wholeness and living into our Kingdom identity and purpose helping to bring God's Kingdom values upon the earth. We recognize that shalom is God restoring into wholeness what is ruptured within our lives and in the world.  It is God who makes us whole, it is God who will be faithful to make us whole. We desire to bring shalom to others within the world but recognize that we cannot do this unless we are experiencing shalom ourselves.
