The ministry of Formational Counseling positions people for emotional and spiritual healing through the power of the Holy Spirit and the healing presence of Jesus Christ. The sixteen week healing care group curriculum is led by leaders who have been trained in the area of healing prayer. Each small group experience includes prayer, a teaching component and experiential exercises surrounding a spiritually formative theme. Through the context of intimate Christian community, participants experience freedom and wholeness in Christ.

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory,
are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Getting Out of Their Faces
and Into Their Lives
Our Mission Statement:

To make God real and relevant to all Jr. High students; and to create a desire for a lifelong relationship with Him.
We spend time together learning from the Bible and praying together. We want each student to have a clear understanding of what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus—that God loves us and Jesus died to pay for our sin. We also have a lot of fun!
TREAD is for students in grades 6 through 8. We meet on Thursday nights from 7:00 - 8:45 pm in our very own TREAD room and we meet on Sunday mornings during the worship service downstairs.
We would love to have you join us and if you want more info or have any questions, please contact at Karen_Lilla@hopedetroit.org or Raymond_Johnson@hopedetroit.org.

Community Groups
The Community Groups of Hope Community Church are founded upon the great commands to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39). Intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another in the Body of Christ is a central value of Hope Community Church.
We invite you to join us as we seek to discover what it means
to live in intimate community as the Body Of Christ.
Each community group meets from 6:00-8:00 p.m.on the second Sunday of every month,
with the exception of July. The groups are led by Hope’s lay pastors
who are also available to you for individual pastoral care.
For more information, please contact Pam_Pangborn@hopedetroit.org or at 313.407.2818.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
"You might remember that the first Christians were called followers of The Way (Acts 9:2, 18:25-26).
They had found the Way of Life and had given themselves over to it. They lived together, ate together,
fought together, celebrated together. They were intimate allies, a fellowship of the heart.
How wonderful it would be if we could find the same. How dangerous it will be if we do not.
This life we are living is not meant to be lived alone. This journey we are taking cannot be taken alone.
We must have allies of the heart."
John Eldredge
Hospitality | Every Sunday Morning
The purpose of Hospitality is to give people a comfortable place and a warm atmosphere to futher develop stronger relationships with one another. Our vision for the ministry echoes Hope's overall vision where we are centered on Jesus Christ, where we value all people, where we serve one another, where we help grow relationships, and where we believe love will draw non-believers to Jesus.

Helping Hands & Hearts of Hope
4H Ministry
The 4-H Ministry is the Outreach Ministry of Hope Community Church. This ministry team serves as a vessel to help those outside of our fellowship who are lost and/or hurting. The group also serves as a catalyst for the people of HCC to get involved and serve those in our neighboring communities. Our goal is to walk with individuals/families as they enter into a saving relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is accomplished by meeting basic needs through various venues (including, but not limited to):
Clothing Closet and Food Pantry
- Neighborhood Connection
- Community Ministry Hours
- Referral Resource Site
- Convenient Emergency Snack Packs
- Holistic Hardware – Life Skills Training
- Compassion By Command – Ministry Training
- End of Summer Neighborhood Bar-B-Que
- A Week of Hope – Housing and feeding area men and women through local rotating homeless shelter
- Angel’s Night Weekend
- Boxes of Love Thanksgiving Meal Boxes
Wise Men’s Workshop Christmas Outreach
- Angel’s Tree – Christmas Prison Fellowship Ministry
- Book Drive for neighborhood elementary school

Past Mission Trips: We went to "visit" brothers and sisters, learning from them, worshipping with them loving them, sharing "hope". Working with them, teaching, play sports, visiting homes, over all: "Being Jesus to them". You can see from the pictures some of the wonderful times we experienced on our last trip to Uruguay -- experiences that will stay with us for the rest of our lives!
We currently do an annual trip, but, if God open doors . . .as He often does . . . we'll go where He sends us.

got questions?
Besides offering a warm welcome and bulletins at the doors to the sanctuary, we “man” the information center before and after each Sunday service. CD’s of the Sunday sermons and got hope? t-shirts are sold there. We also keep various sign-up sheets there (for classes, etc.). We try to keep a “pulse” on all the goings-on at Hope so that we can be a true information center.
We have ministry meetings quarterly and communicate by email in between meetings.
Each greeter is asked to serve approximately once/month and we work in teams of two. New members of the ministry are teamed with more experienced ones. Greeters should arrive by 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, and go into the service when the announcements begin. After the service, greeters remain at the information center for approximately 20 minutes.
If you would like to serve as a greeter, please contact Angela_DiSante@hopedetroit.org
The Ushers
The Usher ministry serves our church family every Sunday morning and ushers are asked to serve once a month. The main duties are to pass out the church bulletins prior to the worship service, assist in locating seats for our guests, and to collect the offerings from the congregation.
The ministry provides an excellent "entry-level" opportunity to serve our church. The actual tasks involved are relatively easy to perform and you serve while being part of the worship service. The contact we have with the rest of the body each week allows for new relationships to begin and to get more connected to the people who make up Hope Community Church.

If you are interested in
serving or would like more information, please contact
Pete_Farago@hopedetroit.org
Media Tech

Our mission is to enhance the worship
by allowing the Word to be clearly seen
and heard inside, as well as outside
the four walls of our sanctuary.
Our goal is to become more of a medium
of the message by utilizing new
technological devices meant for that purpose.

“Eh… this sound stuff ain’t so tough!”
The goal of the Visual Ministry is to:
· Visually enhance worship by providing song lyrics and inspirational images.
· Visually inform the congregation of various events, meetings, and reminders via the announcements that run before and after the service.
· As an added learning tool, visually amplify the sermon by providing the outline text/additional points and video clips when applicable
We do this by compiling the lyric slides, creating the announcement slides, and developing the sermon slides that are all shown during the Sunday morning worship service. This serves the entire congregation by offering another medium of communication, understanding and freedom in worship. We do this from the balcony of the sanctuary during Sunday morning service, so we can fully participate in the church's weekly worship experience.
As a member of this ministry team, once a month you would attend music rehearsal at Hope on Wednesday at 7:00 PM to compile the lyric slides, create the announcement slides and to rehearse with the band/singers. You would have from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening to develop the sermon slides at your leisure. You need to arrive at Hope by 8:30 AM on Sunday morning to rehearse one final time with the band/singers, to review the sermon slides with the pastor, and to begin the rotation of the announcement slides by 9:30 AM. During the service, you would run the lyric slides during worship, the sermon slides during the sermon, and the announcement slides 2-3 times after the service.
We also have ministry meetings once a month or as needed.
Because of the technical nature of what we do, knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is preferred. Access to a home/work computer with Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Internet is highly recommended. Side-by-side training will be provided on a consecutive Wednesday and Sunday so you can learn about the equipment and the existing files. Several background templates have been created to save time and to make things easier, but creativity is highly encouraged.
We would enjoy giving you more information or answering any questions you might have.
Please contact Meghan_and_Emil_Ditrapani@hopedetroit.org.

The Music Ministry creates opportunities to spread the love of Jesus through music. Musically gifted individuals, as well as those that
are not as musically inclined, are welcome to participate
in service to our Lord, the congregation, and the community.

Our primary purpose is to provide the space for praise and
worship during Sunday morning worship services.
We also create and participate in opportunities for musical
worship outside of our Sunday services through such events as
Jazzin' on Jefferson and Stand Up! Stand Out!.
We also enjoy fellowship gatherings within the ministry.
The Music Ministry incorporates a wide variety of
musical genres in an effort to facilitate a
meaningful worship experience for each person in our diverse congregation and for those who visit.

If you would like to participate with the Music Ministry,
we'd love to have you, so please contact
Chris_ Turner@hopedetroit.org
and we'll do all we can to make that happen!

We are dedicated to overseeing the building maintenance, continued restoration, and beautification of our church home..
As members of this ministry, our responsibilities include:
· The opening and closing of the building for Sunday morning service. This is done on a rotating schedule with each member being required to open up and lock up the building one Sunday every other month or 6 times per year.
· To oversee or co-ordinate-trash pick up, snow removal, cleaning, week to week maintenance (light bulbs, leaky pipes or faucets, heating system, landscaping, signage, maintain supplies, any other routine maintenance).
· To develop and maintain a list of major and minor building needs.
· To prioritize these building needs and solicit quotations from contractors or develop alternative plans to accomplish these projects.
· To submit these recommendations to the deacon board so that they may prioritize and approve them as funds become available.
· To be individually responsible for overseeing a specific building area.
· To attend a quarterly meeting to discuss current needs.
If you like getting things done, while serving with a wonderful group of people, please contact: Mark_Steiner@hopedetroit.org.
I would enjoy giving you more information or answering any questions you might have.
Being a member of the Temple Guards (Security) is an adventure!
Each week you meet new people and greet people with the Love of Christ.

The Temple Guards are a security presence in the outer and inner courts of Hope Community Church. We deter the theft of vehicles while greeting each person who walks through our doors with a smile and the love of Christ. We also get the privilege of greeting those that are just walking past our doors. We might be the first kind face these folks see associated with our church and it may just encourage them to walk through the doors at some point instead of walking past them.
You will see us serving at the at the front door of the church on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings. If you'd like to join this wonderful team,
you can serve one Sunday a month (starts at about 9:30a and continues through the worship service) or one Thursday night every two months (6:30p - 8:30p). We also have a brief meeting of all the guards about once a quarter.
For more information or to become part of this adventurous group, please contact
Gerald_Holliday@hopedetroit.org
We maintain a presence in the parking lot with the cars during the service so that the people who gather at Hope can focus on the service and not be concerned about their cars. In addition to watching the lot, we have the privilege of doing the following:
· We are the first people that our church family sees every Sunday as they arrive for the service. We have an opportunity to provide a warm loving welcome to help our brothers and sisters get ready for worship.
· Additionally, we are the first contact with the body of Christ at Hope that new people see. We have an opportunity to make that first impression loving and welcoming.
This is a great service opportunity for someone who is perhaps new to Hope and wants to serve but doesn't know many people or where to start. While serving in the Parking Lot Ministry, our team members meet, greet and get to know many members of the Body of Christ at Hope.
We serve on Sunday mornings and occasionally during special events. We arrive on Sundays at 9:15 and set up our parking lot sign and put out the handicapped parking signs up in front of the building. We pick up the walkie-talkie that allows us to communicate with the building and head out to the lot where we stay until the service concludes. We rotate our parking lot personnel in teams of 2 that serve on Sunday every 5 to 7 weeks. We meet as a ministry one or twice per year.
If you enjoy being welcomed every Sunday morning by the parking lot team and would like to be part of the front line greeters, please contact Jim_Derbin@hopedetroit.org.
The Capital Campaign ministry is a financial development function within our administration department. It is responsible for developing and implementing programs for raising funds in support of the maintenance and renovation of our church facility and campus, and other programs and projects as deemed appropriate by the Deacon Board. This ministry is also responsible for developing programs and training in support of stewardship initiatives for our church.
We are currently implementing a development program called Partners for Sacred Places—New Dollars/New Partners. This program trains volunteers and positions the church to seek funding primarily from three sources:
• our congregation
• friends and associates of Hope
• private foundations, government and corporations
Our current team leaders and activities include:
Monique Holliday - Identify the financial value of Hope’s contributions to the community through the use of our facility and the volunteer time of our members.
Mark Steiner - Conduct architectural/engineering and space planning studies resulting in a five year plan for building renovation and utilization.
Joan Farago - Document our church/community heritage. Research our facility, stained glass, plaques, Jefferson Ave. Methodist Church (previous congregation) and various church documents. Compile church history narrative.
Pete Farago - Discover new partners in our community. Identify individuals, associations/organizations, public institutions and the private sector in our community. Responsibilities include defining our community(demographics), raising awareness, building relationships, and gaining commitments in support of our facility and programs.
Berkley Browne - Tell Our Story. Assemble the work of the other teams and develop a powerful story about OUR sacred place as an asset to the congregation and the community. Spread the word within our walls and the community at large, regarding our contribution and value to the community.
We encourage you to participate in this exciting endeavor!
